How We Organize Our Homeschool

How We Organize Our Homeschool

Everyone’s homeschool plans, day, and set-up are different. This is so good! Each of us (and our children) are uniquely made, so it means that what works for one family most assuredly won’t work for another. However, it’s fun to be inspired by another mom’s plans.

In this video and post, I will walk you through how I have our homeschool materials organized. We utilize Gentle + Classical Programs (obviously) but this video features WAY more than that. It's lengthy and beefy, so you'll find the following timestamps helpful PLUS all links for ALL mentioned products are below the video.

Are You Terrified of Failing at Homeschooling?

Are You Terrified of Failing at Homeschooling?

Let’s pretend for a moment that we are close, real-life friends. We’ve sat down for a cup of coffee after you shared your heart via text.

  • Maybe you told me that you are paralyzed by your decision to homeschool.

  • Maybe you told me that you feel like everyday is a failure, and you’re ready to quit.

  • Maybe you’re worried about how your child’s academic progress compares to another child.

Whatever it is, your anxious thoughts have spiraled out of control, and you’re terrified of all the ways you are failing in educating your child. If you were my close friend, and we were having THIS conversation, this is what I would humbly submit to you, having walked this road before you:

Day in Our Homeschooling + Work-at-Home Life

Day in Our Homeschooling + Work-at-Home Life

Do you ever see glimpses of another mom's life and wonder what her days are like? Whether we think she has life all figured out and wonder "how she does it all," are feeling overwhelmed by our own days, or are entering a new season and want to glean wisdom from a mom ahead of us, seeing another homeschool mom's daily schedule can be really helpful, encouraging, and eye-opening.

6 Steps to Start Homeschooling Successfully (or HOW to get started without losing it...)

Seasoned homeschool mom or brand-newbie, it’s extremely easy for any of us to get stuck in the “about to start” mode. Does any of this resonate with you?

  • You have things pretty organized, but things aren’t just right yet.

  • You took a break during the holidays, and the idea of starting back feels you with dread.

There are a few different emotions that can hold us back from beginning, and two are most prevalent:

  1. Fear.

  2. Burnout. (Which is actually also rooted in fear.)

Honestly, I’m so thankful I started homeschooling over a decade ago…

FREE: Charlotte Mason's Formidable List of Attainments Posters

In a curriculum from the 1890’s, Charlotte Mason outlined a list of “attainments” that she believed were a challenging set of skills and knowledge that a well-educated child of 6 would do well to have. This list of skills is not for a child to hav e mastered BY the age of 6, but r ather to be challenged with AT the age of 6. This means that the following list of attainments are not a “kindergarten readiness” list but instead would be considered Miss Mason’s “kindergarten” program.

FREE: Ocean Fun Pack!

My little guys love ocean animals! As a child I had a deep desire to become a marine biologist. I mean, who doesn't want to swim with dolphins and closely observe whales?

Over time, the Lord had different plans for me, but that doesn't mean I don't still love ocean animals. As a matter of fact, Volume 2 of Nature (release: Spring 2022) is allllll about oceans and shorelines.

10 Ways to Spring Clean Your Homeschool Days

This is a guest post contributed by Stephanie Radcliffe. You can learn more about Stephanie in her bio at the bottom of her post.
When we decided to home educate as a family, something I wrestled with and often still do, is this sometimes daunting feeling that “it is all up to me”. You know the saying ‘if mama ain’t happy, nobody’s happy’? It also feels true that ‘if mama can’t get the routine ship sailing, ain’t nobody else going to go sailing that day either’. And sometimes it just feels like my rudder is stalling out.
